Three Chiefs Museum

Collections Management Program

The spirit and direction of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes is founded upon and reflected in our cultural heritage. The very reason Three Chiefs Culture Center exists is to be a part of the continuance of our tribe’s cultural heritage and to celebrate our histories as we existed long ago. Through our museum exhibits, storytelling and presentations we affirm that the Salish, Ksanka and Qlispe people still exist to this day.

Three Chiefs Culture Centers Collections Management Program established within the Museum to protect and preserve all collections and inventory. Artifacts within the collections help provide a connection to our tribes past, to our stories, histories and lifeways that have been passed down from generation to generation. The collections assist us with cultural education through presentations, research and museum exhibits.

The Collections Management Program helps us advance the management and care of the Salish, Kootenai and Pend d’Oreille tribes articles/artifacts. All collections are accessioned, catalogued, inventoried, and stored or displayed properly following established Museum Standard policies. The Collections Management Program will help the center advance the care of all existing and incoming collections.
