Three Chiefs Cultural Center exists to provide public education on aspects of traditional lifestyles and histories of the Salish, Pend d’Oreille and Kootenai people.
Throughout the year the Education Program offers demonstrations and history on traditional and contemporary life-ways. Providing gatherings, temporary displays, history presentations and the continued practicing of traditional events, Three Chief’s Cultural Center is guided by tribal elders and is insuring the perpetuation of their tribal culture.
Three Chiefs Cultural Center hosts a number of area schools and organizations throughout the year with museums tours, art, presentations, games and history. Registration is required for all group activities please call one week in advance. Group rate applies for groups of 5 or more. Art and craft classes are extra depending on selection.

- The People Trunk – Traditional clothing, reading materials, photographs, and more that will share history past and present of the Salish, Pend d’Oreille and Kootenai people.
- The Animal Trunk – Includes animal puppets with the names in Salish & Kootenai, history, stories and more that share how important animals are to our tribes.
- The Buffalo Trunk – Includes information of traditional uses of the buffalo, pictures, books, coloring pages and more.

- Crafts are available upon request a fee may be required. Please ask when you are scheduling your group.
- Beading, mini teepees, mini parfleche, cloth dolls, dream catchers, bracelets, native game pieces, necklaces, chokers, pouches. We can make many of these crafts age appropriate. (no needles)

Education Programming
Our educational programs are designed with special thoughts care and respect to our three tribes lifeways, arts, histories and stories these include craft classes and demonstrations consisting of beading, traditional outfit-regalia construction, moccasin making, cradleboard construction, yaya doll making, hide tanning, basketry, and any other type of class or demonstrations where we can provide a suitable instructor for our customers.
The Center’s educational programs occur at different times during the year and are typically scheduled around traditional periods of time when the Tribes normally participate in these activities. The Education Director constantly researches and develops activities to promote the Center. The following are some of the educational programs that have been operated by the Center over the past several years.
We also conduct a variety of gatherings on a regular basis. These include powwows, a traditional social celebration which includes drumming, dancing, traditional games, eating, and gathering of families; story telling of traditional stories that are meaningful to our culture; art markets where local artists, and crafts people can sell their products in an outdoor open market; music concerts; bazaars, family fun days for gaming and food and presentations; and movies.
